REACH 5K GIRLS DEFINED

In this project, we are telling the girl child to accept and face the reality of life; to appreciate what they are and work towards bettering their own life. Some of the campaign philosophies by the feminists that the world is a soft place or the world should be made a free sail-through environment and easy-life zone for the girl child are more of illusions, more theoretical, easy said than done and not sustainable in real life especially our context.

We are telling the girls to remain home and help their mothers do the weeding or use the plentiful land, plant something and out of it something good can be harvested. We are saying our young girls should accept to study where their parents can afford instead of running away from the truth of life, taking refuge in town as housemaids and roadside restaurant attendants in town suburbs, selling themselves into slavery at that tender age. We are telling the girls who are following the track of education to stop sleeping and work hard if their dream of soft and easy life must come true. The free 1.5 point of the affirmative action cannot take them anywhere. If Law requires 20 points, work for it, If Medicine needs 20, equally battle for it, or else you can chose to relax and see if the 1.5 will earn you a apace at the lecture rooms.

Read hard, score excellently and don't waste time competing or struggling to equal the boys, like you always misinterpret the meaning of equality. Compete with the reality of the world; compete to meet the entry requirement for your dream career, compete to find solutions to world problems, and compete to change the world to make it a better place for your generation and the generations coming after yours. Don’t study to pass like your brother, don’t let any man be your measuring parameter such that where men have failed, you feel comfortable saying “if a whole man can fail, who am i?” No! We are saying, rise to meet the demands of the world not to do what men can do.

Here at TTH, we are surrounded by a team of young ladies who did not bow down and worshiped ignorance; they did not accept to be hoodwinked; they vowed to take the bull by its horn and now they are relevant women contributing perfectly in their different professional areas in the cooperate world. A good number are now family women, some are mothers and all of them are living a modest life earning respect from their agreements, the young and old because they don't mix issues; they do not contradict education and their gender roles as mothers-great transmitters of life and sources of happiness in a family. They are here CHARGED and ready to go out there, meet that young girl, Change Her Attitude, and Revolutionize Girls Empowerment and Development (CHARGED). And this is what the REACH 5K GIRLS PROJECT IS ALL ABOUT.

TTH sets rolling CHARGED!

ON this 16th April, Easter Sunday, at TTH Studio here at Kirombe North A, Off Omito-Akwoyo Road, Adyel Division, Lira, we have rolled out a sixty (60) days (April 16, 2017 to June 15th 2017), CALL TO REACH OUT TO THE 5000 GIRLS support mobilization drive. In this drive, we intend to raise support and resources; cash money, materials and moral support (eg Visiting our Blog and Facebook page and writing a comment to any post, liking, sharing and writing a review-giving stars to our Facebook page) and telling others about THEATRE TECHNOLOGY HOUSE. The primary aim of this drive is to set rolling, our three years performance production project on Life skills for growing up as a girl code named CHARGED (Changing Her Attitude, Revolutionizing Girls Empowerment and Development). This drive will generate support to see us run a direct school performance (performing arts) production, which is a proof-of-idea, where we will reach out to five thousand (5000) girls in both single sex and mixed secondary schools in Lango, Acholi and Karamoja region.
In this 60 days support drive, the key things which we will expect from our friends and well-wishers will include: guest posting; where you will share thoughts and ideas that you feel can enrich the messages that we are packaging for the girls, buying a branded T-Shirt and taking your picture while on it and then posting it on your wall with a message that you feel is vital for the project and lastly donating anything you can including money, materials like T-shirts, production equipment like Microphones, speakers and other digital tools needed for the project. As the drive runs, we will be sharing project ideas and proposals to prospective donors and by the end of the REACH 5000 DRIVE, we will review the Pilot/proof-of-idea drive and develop a final project guide and implementation plan which will see three major things done; 1. 96 EPISODES of the Radio drama produced and aired on a local FM stations with components like, free sms feedback, and interactive field visits and opening of listenership clubs in schools, 2. Two Radio Drama Script Writing competitions run in High schools with award of prizes and 3. Calm Brain, Touching Story

"Story telling is a highly creative art; it is told by those who have given in their mind soul and body to calm analysis of events surrounding them and picking from it the flow that is aesthetically, morally and therapeutically rich for the target story audience.  You need a calm emotion, a heart with a vision and a hand with skills to tell any story" Gira Emmanuel
